Step into the world of RENT at Central Lakes College!

Experience the joy, passion, and raw emotion of one of Broadway’s most iconic musicals. Set in the East Village of New York City, RENT is about falling in love, finding your voice, and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this groundbreaking show has become a cultural phenomenon, with unforgettable songs and a story that resonates across generations.

As part of RENT, you'll portray a group of young artists and musicians struggling to survive, create, and navigate their dreams and conflicts amidst the challenges of life in New York's Lower East Side. From emotional ballads to exuberant group numbers, this is theatre at its best—raw, exuberant, and life-changing.

📍 Location: Dryden Theatre, Central Lakes College, Brainerd

🎭 Who Can Audition: Open to anyone aged 16 and older—no prior experience required! Whether you’re a seasoned performer or taking your first step on stage, RENT offers a welcoming and unforgettable experience.

💃 What to Expect:
Auditions will include singing and light choreography. Rehearsals typically run four to five evenings a week, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Performances are scheduled for April 10-12 & 17-19, 2025. Don’t miss your chance to be part of a story that celebrates the power of love, friendship, and creativity.

Like to help behind the scenes? We are looking for volunteers to:
• Help set up and operate sound, lighting, and video equipment and the stage for events throughout the year. • Fall/Spring backstage running crew: scene change crew for big shows (like for musicals), spotlight operators, light board operator, sound board operator, etc. • Summer theater running crew: light board operator, sound board operator, backstage crew, and nightly setting up/tearing down summer theater production equipment. • construction work • painting work • wardrobe work (sewing, ironing, etc.).
